Dandelion War

QnSmq4 on Make A Gif, Animated Gifs

I feel like I have battle wounds. My hands are sticky and brown, my forehead red, me knees aching, and I'm not even close to done. One day, last week, Levi and I were outside enjoying the beautiful sun and lawn. The next day there was a Dandelion invasion! You have to know it was bad, because I did something about it, and pulling weeds is far from my favorite thing to do.

At first I had the brilliant idea to carefully wrap my hand around each individual big, puffy, white, seed ball. Contained in my hand, I would walk to the garbage and dispose of it without a single seed escaping to further infest my lawn. That way, I wouldn't have to do any actual weeding, and I was preventing myself from having to do any weeding later on. Brilliant! After doing that about eight times I came to my senses.... Levi, so graciously, offered to eat all of the yellow flower heads for me, I decided the best way to do less work later is to (depressingly) do more work now. So, I tracked down the Dandelion digger and the massacre that followed was glorious. Oh, happy green lawn! Welcome back! Please stay.

And, by the way, my services are not for hire. You'll have to suffer through your own lawn yourself. Best of luck!

Three Months Gone By

Guess what didn't get left out of the spring cleaning this year... My BLOG! Guess what did... My house. C'est la vie.

Speaking of house, don't come over to mine right now. Unless you like doing dishes and sweeping the floor, heaven knows I don't. Levi tries, but for some reason he doesn't eat every crumb of food that's fallen to the ground. I thought babies were supposed to be automatic hand to mouth vacuums! I think his taste is more in line with magazine pages, DVD's, and plastic bags. It's the crinkle he enjoys.

I'm excited to finally kick this blog up again! As I write Levi is standing at, and pounding on, a bookshelf. This last week he's really embraced crawling and independence  He'd love to embrace Scruffy too, and that's a lot of his motivation for clambering around. Eventually (like every time I put him down) he ends up in the dining room, standing at the side table, and having a loud one sided conversation with Scruffy. Between us, I don't think it's something Scruffy is particularly thrilled with. But, Scruffy is an enigma, a lizard of steely countenance, so to speak.

Well, this is your warning! I plan on spewing out lots of Levi, house, and Summer fun posts (this is a silent prayer for warmer weather). My calender is packing on the events/activities, and there is no slowing this train down!

Rice Rice Baby!

Yep, that face pretty much sums up our first attempt at rice cereal. It smells like paper and tastes even worse (how do I know that?, mum's the word). It's a big step for us over here, actual food. Like the kind that grown-ups eat. It's funny, we'll be sitting down at the table to eat and Levi sits staring at us, open mouthed, and laser focused. So, naturally, when it comes time for Levi to actually eat real food, I pretend to eat it, and he will have none of it. No laser focus. No gaping mouth. Just pursed lips and a furrowed brow. This first attempt was several days ago, and I've tried to give him a little every day since. The result rarely changes, and if anything I'd say he's developing a dislike of the ricey papery taste. It's a good thing we hit up WINCO last night, $.50 jars of baby food! It's string beans and peas on the menu next. I'll let you know how that goes.

Leeeeeeeevi

My Baby is 4 months old now! Well, actually, he was 4 months old on December 28th. He's a short and fat little munchkin, and I love his chubby cheeks. All four of them, haha! We went to the Doctor today and this is what he said-

Head- 45 cm (100%)  Yay, my baby is the best his age at growing his head, I'm so proud :)
Height- 25 1/4" (43%)
Weight- 16 lbs 14 oz (69%)

He also got some more vaccines, poor little guy. Right now he is still in his car seat sleeping it off. On a happy note, the doctor gave us the go ahead to start Levi on Rice Cereal! That's kind of exciting! A short but sweet post today, but I'm so proud I got one done!

We Call Him Santa

Levi's first Christmas! Eeeeek, it's gettting close. In the true spirit of Christmas we finally got it together and took Levi to see Santa! There is a cute little garden/decor store called Beaver Bark. It had Santa, Reindeer, and a Christmas Tree Lot! What could be better!? I'm happy to report that, after a lengthy wait in line (popular Santa), Levi met the big man. Well there were no screams or waterworks, Levi didn't really feel like smiling either. It's a serious business... meeting Santa. Levi didn't really have a wish list for Santa, but Mommy wouldn't mind sleeping through the night.
